Flesh Forest (Primeval Ones Book 5) a Splatterpunk, Lovecraftian, Body Horror Novel
Journey to the Flesh Forest…
Book Details:
This forest is alive, but not the way it should be…
Toward the end of August every year, upperclassmen from Yelm High School head to Yelm Lake for an end-of-summer party. Some drive to the nearby field and walk the rest of the way, but most hike through the woods—just in case they need to flee on foot when the cops show up to shut things down.
With all the recent disappearances in the area, Danny Holland insists taking Tucker or Kyle’s car would be the smart call. But no one ever listens to the new guy. Especially not Tucker.
Deep in the forest, the drunk squad of four stumbles across something incomprehensible—a fleshy biomass that has engulfed the clearing and begun swallowing the surrounding trees. Slumped at its center is an unconscious girl who looks just a little… off.
One thing is clear: she needs help.
And they’re the only ones who might be able to save her.
One wrong step is all it takes to turn a chill hike into a waking nightmare of unimaginable horrors.
As things spiral from bad to worse, Danny begins to realize that this forest covered in flesh might be what’s been making people vanish without a trace.
And if he’s right, stepping onto that meaty ground may mean none of them ever make it out…

Chronology: This story begins 3 days after The Amazonian Uteroboscis: Outbreak’s final chapter, which itself takes place 1 day after the end of Lizzy’s storyline. It follows a new cast of characters—Danny Holland and his friends—as they stumble across the nightmare that Allie Hannigan and Lizzy Rutherford inadvertently unleashed in the woods of Yelm, WA. So, for the best experience, the series is best read in publication order.
For those who just stumbled across this series: If you’re just looking to read a messed-up body horror story without having to catch up on the other books, Flesh Forest was written to serve as an entry point for new readers. While it lightly touches on the lore and science surrounding the Uteroboscis parasites [which have become a household name by this point in the chronology], it presents the mystery and horror of the other organisms from books 2 and 3 [but with new twists] through the perspective of characters encountering them for the first time.
So, if you’re new and want maximum shock factor, and if you don’t mind having some major events from earlier books spoiled, jump in here ‘blind’ then go back to the previous installments afterward to learn more about the other characters/the science behind the organisms.
Content Warning!
While there are naughty organisms in this story, THERE’S NO EROTICA IN THIS STORY!
This book is a straight-up body-horror/sci-fi novel with splatterpunk themes that deals with certain Lovecraftian-like organisms from earlier works. If you want an idea of the vibe of this book, think one of those movies where a bunch of best bros journey to a party, but then imagine that it rapidly spirals into nightmarish, surreal horror. Expect gruesome descriptions, plenty of “guy talk,” and strong language. If you’re squeamish or have any triggers related to the kinds of things typically found in splatterpunk-style fiction, you might wanna skip this one.
